Solid Pest Solutions

Remove pests by removing what attracts them

With the variety of pests that we have in the high desert, there are many different causes for their arrival in our homes, businesses and properties. Solid Pest Solutions takes all the means necessary to insure proper identification of the pest in your home. We take pride in having an acute understanding of their behavior so that we can put together the best plan to solve the problem.

Solid Pest Solutions never views the pest as the problem. They are a symptom. We work toward finding the causes of the infestation and take actions to prevent the return of the infestation. We employ a strategy called Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
This means that we use a variety of strategies to solve the pest problem, from mechanical changes to the environment, to the removal of materials that cause pest harborage, to the introduction of products for the remediation of the pest.

PictureAnts
With over 90 species of ants in Oregon alone, ants are considered one of our high desert’s most prominent insects in home infestations. Most commonly we see odorous house ants, several variety of carpenter ants, velvety tree ants, pavement ants, moisture ants, thatching ants and harvester ants. Ants are an important part of our Central Oregon ecology and we want them to remain in our outside environment.

Solid Pest Solutions is fascinated with these little critters and highly experienced at remediating them from our homes. Ants are usually found near water and food sources. This doesn’t just mean bathrooms and kitchens either. Many ants arrive due to flaws in our homes that cause unseen water damage or construction that promotes ant harborage in the home. Give us a call. We are happy to help figure out what is going on and assist you in removing the nuisance.

PictureBees
Bees are a wonderful and important part of our environment. All species of them are crucial for pollination of our food crops and other plants. Solid Pest Solutions goes out of our way to protect these little ones (and sometimes big ones). We work with local beekeepers to relocate an infesting hive. As a policy, Solid Pest Solutions requires that ALL options for non-chemical remediation must be exhausted before any chemicals will be introduced to a hive. We will work closely with the Oregon Department of Agriculture when doing so.

PictureCockroaches
The German Cockroach is the most common cockroach found in Central Oregon. These insects can contaminate food, causing many different health issues to humans. They also spread like wildfire through any home or commercial facility. A female can produce 4 to 8 egg cases (30 to 48 eggs per case) during the course of their lifespan of up to 200 days.

Solid Pest Solutions is committed to quickly removing these little disease spreaders. Though Central Oregon only sees this insect occasionally, we are experienced in defending your home or business from these invaders.

PictureRodents
Central Oregon is loaded with an abundance of different species of rodents – mice, pack rats, ground squirrels, tree squirrels and many more. These small animals are everywhere, often finding their ways into our homes. When in our homes they have the potential to spread disease and/or cause significant damage to electrical wires, insulation and modern water lines. Solid Pest Solutions have the tools and experience to seal-out your home and prevent them from returning.

PictureWildlife
Raccoons and skunks are the two most common wildlife we come into contact with in and around our homes. Raccoons that enter a home crawl space or attic space can cost a homeowner thousands of dollars in damage to heating systems and insulations. Skunks… well, we know what skunks do. P U! Solid Pest Solutions have mastered the art of evicting and preventing the return of these animals and many more.

PictureBats
Most common in Central Oregon is the little brown bat. They are protected due to population declines. That said, they are a fantastic help in regards to insect control. Little brown bats are small, weighing only 1/3 oz as a full-grown adult. They eat half their body weight in insects each night. In fact, a nursing female will eat 110% of their body weight each night. Though they are small, their colonies can become quite large. If they find their way into our homes for nesting, they can create a significant amount of mess with their droppings and urine. The urine is also highly acidic and can cause damage to paints, stains and siding.

Solid Pest Solutions are experts at evicting and sealing out these beneficial animals. We want to protect bats at all costs and will only perform seal-outs after nesting seasons.

PictureBirds
Pigeons, flickers, swallows and many more love our homes for their own nesting locations. Solid Pest Solutions have the experience installing a variety of products to prevent birds from nesting on and in the home.

PictureTermites
Despite popular belief, termites are in fact present in Central Oregon. We have western subterranean termites in the area. They are fairly slow feeders but can cause significant damage if not taken care of when found.

Solid Pest Solutions does not believe that all evidence requires a chemical treatment nor full house treatment to solve the termite’s presence. Give us a call. We would love to offer suggestions on remedying the presence of termites in your home or business.

PictureSpiders
Oregon has at least 500 species of spiders. Black widow spiders may be the only potentially harmful spider in Oregon. The most common spiders submitted for identification at the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) are the hobo spider and giant house spider. Both of which look very similar and are feared for a venom that causes the same reaction as a brown recluse. This is an unwarranted fear, as it is not true of these species. Another myth for the northwest is that brown recluse exist here. They do not. It is important to also mention that spiders are beneficial to our environment in aiding the control of other insects.

Whatever spiders you may have, Solid Pest Solutions is always available to aid in the management of these unwanted guests.
